While earning her Master's and PhD in Aeronautics and Bioengineering, Katija began to study the mechanics of swimming and feeding marine organisms. Hawai'i As a child, bioengineer Kakani Katija dreamed of being an astronaut, but as an adult, she became captivated by an even less explored environment than space: our Earth's ocean. Kakani Katija is a Bioengineer dedicated to developing underwater technologies to better observe biological and physical processes where they happen in the ocean.
